IGS UK Symposium 2022: Containment Engineering

This technical seminar explored how containment engineering principles applied to non waste applications can inform our practice, learn from experience outside of the UK to promote better design practice and innovation.

The symposium focussed on emerging and recent research, of interest to designers and practitioners in the field. Actual case histories from different countries were presented, including best practices, cases where challenges have been encountered and non standard design approaches.

Applications in mining and extreme environmental settings were also discussed during the symposium, as a lens to explore and possibly challenge standard engineering design practices.

Each session ended with facilitated discussion Workshops – with an emphasis on audience participation with the speakers.
